I am a student attending Stevenson University, where I Major in Computer Information Systems. I am always working to make my brain smarter, whether that is taking time abroad, getting a certification, or attending a class for a year or two.
People around me would describe me as Creative, Analytical, Adventurous and Outgoing. When I'm assigned a task, I like to get to it as soon as possible. I love to keep my schedule busy and by doing this I make sure I add everything I plan to do to my Apple Calendar, where I can manage my time efficiently and set a reminder to give me a heads-up before a project or such is due.
About Me
Enrolling into Stevenson, I was very excited to start my journey to become a Software Developer. I enrolled in my first coding class, which taught SQL and how to manage tables and algorithms using Microsoft Access and Structured Query Language. I learned how to create data tables that could create and find data in a matter of imputing a simple name or key word. Moving into my Sophomore year at my University, I was introduced to Python, at first I was pulling my hairs within the first couple of lessons. More so when we moved on to building "While loops" and "Arrays", I started to think I was in over my head. The following year as a junior I was introduced to Java which made python seem much more simple. I learned to build Java GUI's with projects such as a BMI Calculator, Addition app, a book Library, etc. Java gave me the idea to build on my programming languages that upcoming summer.
The Summer of 2023, I was tasked by a few partners with my mom's business to build a couple websites and maintain the user experience. I decided to pick up on HTML to help speed up the process, I spent hours of my free time watching videos on YouTube about Basic HTML then eventually picking up on CSS then JavaScript.
Later this summer, I decided to go study abroad, where I fell in love with the marketing world. I studied with the EF group at the Hult Business School in London, UK. I met some awesome mentors which taught me the Market Based View, Customer Experience, Value Proposition, The 7 P's of marketing, etc.
Furthermore, I worked with a 3-person team to build a project idea for Intercontinental Hotels to become more Diverse and Inclusive. I did some research on Intercontinental and other competitors like Hilton and the Ritz-Carlton to find that Intercontinental does not have a well-thought-out menu for their guests. I presented this idea to my team to make the hotel's menu's not only have more options, but have more diverse options for their guests. Introducing food from different cultures, I drafted up a mock menu using the online tools Figma and Canva to create a menu showing these food options as well as different imported drinks from other countries.
My time abroad helped me to discover a new passion for the marketing world, I did some research and found my perfect job career later that summer, Product Management. Currently, I am taking a course on Coursera to gain a certificate in product management, I will learn how to communicate with stakeholders, use my critical thinking skills, and Manage a product though its product lifecycle; All while giving my experience with programming and Information technology to ensure the product is well-developed.
